PROBLEM FACING THE GRAPES PRODUCERS IN DODOMA TANZANIA

A grape is a non-climacteric fruit, specifically a berry, and from the deciduous woody vines of the genus Vitis. Grapes can be eaten raw or they can be used for making jam, juice, jelly, wine, grape seed extracts, raisins, vinegar, and grape seed oil.
Though the grape is a  symbol crop for Dodoma region(THE CAPITAL CITY OF TANZANIA) ,still there is little effort which have been made to enable the productivity of this crop  in Dodoma  region.Most of the grapes farmers are living in very poor life,therefore it seems that this crop have not yet given them what the deserve to obtain.There are many problems which are facing these farmers .

One of those problem is poor government policy on the grapes production.Compared to the other cash crops in such as the cotton,the grape has not give any priority of being developed and put in the competition from the nation level up to international standards.The government have not made important effort on providing support to these farmers such as making the common price for grapes in Tanzania.Lack of common price hinder the development of this crop in Tanzania, as most of the business men tend to provide the buying price for them selves in such a way that the farmers continue to become the slaves.
Now, what the Government is required to do;

• Provide the and compliment the grape nation policy that can help the farmers to have the common selling price.
• Establishing the processing industries near by the plantations.
• Establishing the research centers which will help to identify the problems and give out the solution to those problems facing grapes.Here also the government will create the employment our agricultural experts produced from our universities.
• Providing the farmers with the education and skills on how to produce the quality products which will be marketable and competitive in the world market.
• Providing the loan for management and cultivation as well as providing the farmers with the equipment,chemicals and other technology for development of this cash crop.
• Also the government should invite the inverters to engage in this project.

The lack of market.Most of the grape producer tend to produce this kind of fruit without being sure about the market.In the grapes season it is a normal issue to see most of women carrying the baskets,and plastic basin moving around the Dodoma street selling grape.This kind of business will not provide the answer to the poverty their facing,it only end up on reducing the some subsistence need such as food and soap.Every year these farmers uses to engage in the farming without any step forward.
